On November 19, 2012, an immigration judge issued a written decision and granted Withholding of Removal to a Lin & Valdez client.
Our client in this case is from a South Asia country. While in her country, she worked to promote education to children in rural area, and was threatened by the anti-government guerrilla. Unfortunately, she did not file the I-589 asylum petition within one year after coming to the US due to some exigent circumstance. Her I-589 petition was denied by the asylum office and case referred to immigration court. Prior to having the merit hearing, she came to seek our help and representation.
Attorney Stewart Lin was then retained and appeared with the client for the trial. After the trial, the court indicated that it will reserve decision pending further review of evidence. After months of rumination, the court finally issued written decision granting the relief of withholding of removal to our client.
