On November 27, 2007, an L-1B application we filed for a software company in one of the Northeast states was approved by the USCIS. The petition is for the position of Project Liaison for an employee of the company¡¦s subsidiary in India.
L-1B is a non-immigrant visa which allows US companies to temporarily transfer the technical personnel of their foreign parent or subsidiary company having "specialized knowledge" to work at the US. Under the immigration regulations, ¡§specialized knowledge¡¨ personnel is defined as personnel with special knowledge of the petitioning organization's product, service, research, equipment, techniques, management, or other interests and its application in international markets, or an advanced level of knowledge or expertise in the organization's processes and procedures.
The petition we filed for the client is for an employee of the company¡¦s India subsidiary. The employee has been involved deeply in the research of a software program the company is developing. As the company has an urgent need of the employee¡¦s presence in the US to help coordinating the implementation of the developed program, the petition was filed under premium process, and it was quickly approved by the USCIS.
